Serving as the RAFs primary heavy bomber during The Second World War the Avro Lancaster was produced with a number of variations to the core aircraft. the MkII "Dambuster" and MkI "Grand Slam Bomber" are considered to be the most famous designs of an iconic bunch.
The Dambuster variant was modified to effectively attack German Dams and was equipped with specially designed bouncing bombs fit for the task of causing heavy damage to the large concrete structures.
The "Grand Slam Bomber" was designed to carry the 10-ton Grand Slam earthquake bomb and its bomb bay doors and dorsal machine guns were removed to reduce weight to do so.
